Sport on the Big Screen – At the harbour Arm

The Big Screen on the Harbour Arm is THE place to watch great sporting events.  This is one of the few places in the country where you can enjoy matches on a Big Screen.  Folkelife has a run-down of what you can expect to see over the summer months.

wimbledon

You may have seen some of the run up tournaments to Wimbledon on the screen this year.  The French Open was a spectacular event with all the favourites knocked out, or out from injury, leaving the prospect of a new champion in both the Men’s and Women’s competitions for us to cheer on.  Alexander Zverev from Germany, is the World Number 3 seed, and one to watch for Wimbledon when it starts on Monday 29th June.  Mirra Andreeva, the Russian player, and winner of the Women’s French Open is coached by former Wimbledon Champion Conchita Martinez, and all eyes will be on what she can do for the best two weeks of tennis of the year.  You can watch it all in The Goods Yard at Folkestone Harbour Arm.  Gates open at 11am, coverage starts from 11am and action on the show courts starts at 1pm.

We will be cheering on our most favourite players; Emma Raducanu, Cameron Norrie, Alfie Hewitt and Gordon Reid will be wanting that next Title in the Wheelchair Doubles, Dan Evans – in his last professional tournament before he retires, Katie Boulter and Jack Draper.  There are 50 Brits in the line up, so we will find something to cheer for.  Then there’s the historic pairing of the Williams’ sisters in the Doubles to enjoy.  And how will Djokovic handle this next tournament?  Take a seat and find out with us, together.

As well as all your star players, The Goods Yard will be serving up Stella Artois, sponsors of the tournament, from Cluck’n’Cow.  Get Baked and Loaded will be our Pimms Bar for the season, and serving up some deliciously appropriate puds too.  Floc, our house bar, have created a new beer just for the Wimbledon weeks called ‘Love’ – it’s a 5.2% DBH pale ale with soft tropical fruit, crushed gooseberries and ripe citrus, layered over a pillowy body.
