Get baked and loaded – fill your spuds here!
Get Baked and Loaded joins The Goods Yard for 2025 with Shelby Procter at the helm. Shelby’s no stranger to Folkestone Harbour having been a vital member of Barney And The Pizza’s team for the past 5 years. Looking out from the hut at The Goods Yard she has now taken on her own to be a part of the growing food scene at Folkestone Harbour. Folkelife met Shelby at a sunny spot at the Harbour to find out more.
“I love it down here! It’s been so much fun to be a part of Barney’s business over the past five years. To start with I was just working weekends for him, but then as things got busier, my time increased. It’s such a good vibe down here that I love being a part of what’s going on in The Goods Yard.”
baked and loaded potatoes
“Baked potatoes are on a real high at the moment. Anyone who doesn’t know Spud Man must be living under a rock. He goes around trying all sorts of different toppings on his potatoes and does so much for charity too. But baked potatoes is something that’s missing from the offering at The Goods Yard – until now! I’ve worked here and know what people are asking for and the flavours they want. So I’ve put my business plan in, and with huge support from Barney and my family, I’m ready to serve!
“You can choose from five toppings for your baked potato, but you can also have those toppings on fries if you prefer. I love a tuna melt on mine, and cheese and beans is always a popular choice. But I’ll be doing some specials too so that you can have a change. I want to do bangers and mash and show off some of our really good British food here.”

Favourite times
“I’m not sure which is my favourite bit of being at The Goods Yard. The free films on Fridays throughout the summer are always good as so many people come down and the vibe is really friendly. Obviously, when the sun is out it’s mad down here as everyone wants to be outside and enjoying themselves. But I love the Christmas Market too. The run up to Christmas is so special, and the tree really is something. It’s so big, and gets you into the festive spirit really well.”
family support
“My family has been great in helping me start off my business here. I’ve been working for my father-in-law for some time now and he’s been really supportive of my new venture. But I consider Barney family too as I’ve worked for him for a while now. I think it’s because sometimes things can get so hectic here that you know you have to have a good team with you to help get everything served to the customer in the way you know is best. The Harbour Team are great too, and I know those guys so can always ask for help. I’m really chuffed about being able to start my own business here, so bring on the sun and let’s get those spuds ready!”
