100 Years of Floristry – Stem By Stem

There’s been a florists on Church Street in Folkestone for over 100 years.  Stem By Stem owner Tanya Henton spoke to Folkelife whilst creating a bouquet for someone in isolation.

“I’ve been here for 13 years now, and our business is flourishing, if you’ll pardon the pun!  The virus has affected us, of course, but we’re really happy to be open again.  As long as freight still comes over from Holland, we’ll have flowers and can deliver to anyone in Folkestone.”

“People can order online or over the phone, and we can do a delivery leaving the flowers in a safe place, or certainly not making contact.  It’s a lovely thing to do though.  If people are in isolation, then reminding them you’re still thinking of them with a gift of flowers is going to be really important over the next few months.”

The shop contains a beautiful array of fresh flowers.  It also has a good stock for planted arrangements that will last for months.  “These will all cheer you up in your home and smell nice.  We will all need those things that can perk us up in the coming weeks!”
